Hello. After starting a healthy/clean eating lifestyle about a year ago I have had several opportunities to share what I have found out along the way. I am in no way an expert, but I have read many books, magazines, and cook books over the past year and have gleaned quite a bit of information from them that I am happy to share.

The name…Rebeltarian. I mused over blog titles for quite a while and while there were many front runners…rebeltarian came out on the top. The name has layers of meaning.

1. Some of my friends call me Rebel (my name=Rebekah). I think this is mostly because when you type my name into a cell phone using T9 rebel is the first thing it comes up with. It could also be that I am just crazy rebellious…or not.

2. Since following a healthy eating lifestyle I have ‘rebelled’ from the norm and what I had always known in the past when it came to food.

3. I wanted to include the suffix ‘terian’ because I don’t really fall under any specific label when it comes to my eating habits…thus I am a rebeltarian. I eat vegetarian 95% of the time. No specific reasoning or emotional attachment to animals, just a personal preference. There was however this one time in college when I was handed a pamphlet about the cruelty in the pork industry and I have eaten very little if any pork since this point. I am a closeted bleeding heart.

This blog will be a combination of:

  • Healthy recipes from other blogs and cookbooks.
  • Some crazy recipes I might just make up.
  • Product reviews on items that I pick up while aimlessly roaming the aisles of whole foods, central market, sprouts farmers market, and even aldi.
  • Adventures as I cook up what I receive every week in my CSA (community supported agriculture) from Eden Creek Farms.
  • I might even talk about my mis adventures in running as I train to run the Nike Women’s half marathon in October.
  • And honestly, I have really weird dreams, so I might blog about them sometimes too…..
